Brent Reese: The Photo Journalist
Story and photo by Jeff Packer, NewsNetNebraska
Sports have led Brent Reese in many different directions.
The 24-year-old news-editorial major from Holdrege, Neb., was a senior on the high school basketball team when a diving opponent ruptured his right kidney.
The surgery that followed sidelined him from more than athletics. Reese delayed a semester of school, before attending Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Neb., for two years.
Reese enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, mostly he said, because he could go to Husker football games. His love of athletics soon made him realize that sports journalism was his career dream.
Now, with two years under his belt at UNL, the senior has found his calling in photojournalism.
“The photo should say something you can’t,” Reese said. He said he believes in the adage that a picture can say a thousand words.
After UNL, Reese hopes that his love for athletics lands him a position reporting on college football.
