Jeff Packer: Life's play-by-play

There’s always that kid who could be found doing play-by-play of his every move as he plays sports in his front yard. That kid was Jeff Packer of Omaha, Neb. He had a knack for keeping track of athletic seasons with scores and stats. After high school Packer decided to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Packer, 21, started his college career as a communications major. At the end of his freshman year, he switched his major to broadcasting.
“I look at ESPN and I think I can do that,” Packer said. “I have a passion for sports and what can be said about them.”
Packer did a mixture of play-by-play and analysis of the Nebraska versus Texas Tech game in 2010 season for KRNU, which is UNL’s radio station. He hopes to get a chance to do other sporting events at the high school level.
Packer’s other hobbies include keeping fit, playing intramural sports, and watching movies. His goal is to be an intramural champion in some sport before graduating from UNL.
“Boondock Saints” is Packer’s favorite movie. “When I watch movies I get to feel like a kid again,” said Packer. “I like to get lost in a movie.”
Packer is currently working towards his degree in broadcasting.
