This Husker tailgate features an unusual item: an Illinois fan

Thousands of Husker tailgaters came together for the first brisk morning in Lincoln to prepare for an early Homecoming match up against Illinois. Cozad natives Dave and Kathy Jacobs have been tailgating in lot 107 for 10 years now.
Up bright and early, the Jacobs arrived in Lincoln at 8 a.m. and prepared breakfast burritos for their friends and family. They also provided donuts, cinnamon rolls, fruit and several beverages to everyone who came to celebrate with them.
The couple even had something that not many other tailgaters had: a fan from the opposing team. Rodney Thompson was wearing his Illinois jacket and finished off his outfit with a fuzzy orange hat. His wife Joany is a Nebraska native who brought her husband to Lincoln for the household rivalry. Rodney Thompson did run into some welcoming Nebraska fans in the lobby of his hotel before coming out to the game.
No matter which team they were cheering for, fans gathered at the Jacobs tailgate to prepare for the Homecoming match up. After the game, Dave Jacobs invited everyone back for cocktails and more food. The couple planned to meet some friends in the Haymarket for dinner and more fun.
Then it would be back to work for the Jacobs, who then will prepare for the next Husker game day.
