Panel urges students to weigh in on privacy vs. security debate

A standing room only crowd packed Andersen Hall Monday night to hear a panel debate the right to privacy versus the nation’s security needs.

The upshot: It’s not easy to know where to draw the line.  But panelists urged students to get involved and pay attention to who is monitoring their personal information and why.

The panel was assembled by UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications in light of revelations by Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee and National Security Agency contractor,  that the NSA has been stockpiling massive amounts of data on U.S. citizens.
