Weekend warriors: Lincoln residents find lots of ways to play and relax

Ah, the weekend.

How we look forward to Saturdays and Sundays, when we have free time to do the things we want to do.

Like visiting the Children’s Museum with the grand kids. Or playing a little soccer with a college buddy. Or dancing for a good cause with hundreds of others. Or browsing through a sprawling flea market and antique show with friends.

Students in Journalism 304, a multimedia reporting course, spent a recent Saturday interviewing Lincolnites to learn how they like to spend their weekends.

Here are their stories:

Runner trains at Pioneers Park for Lincoln Marathon

Couple enjoy the day with their furry companion

A Novel Idea Bookstore provides a cozy escape for customers

Seeing life — and animals — through the eyes of children

Braving the weather to shop for smokes

Family dances for their modern-day miracle

Sleeping baby misses world’s largest snake

February cold doesn’t deter soccer players at Mabel Lee fields

Student browses through the past to find treasures at antique show
