UNL faces Title IX investigation

The Daily Nebraskan reported: On Sept. 24, the Daily Nebraskan broke the news of the Lincoln Police Department’s investigation of a reported rape of a past, current or prospective University of Nebraska-Lincoln student at a former UNL Glenn Korff School of Music faculty member’s apartment. The Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald then picked up the story. Since then, it has been reported that UNL is under investigation for a potential Title IX infraction.

UNK man arrested for sexual assault

Nebraska TV reported: Trev Hubbard was arrested on a felony first degree sexual assault charge on April 10. UNK officials believe there are many more incidents of sexual assaults that go unreported each year.

Nebraska schools work to prevent sexual assaults

News 5 reported: The University of Nebraska Kearney and Hastings College are implementing programs to prevent sexual assault on campus, as well as educating students on reporting theses crimes. UNK started a class about sexual assault prevention and Hastings College implemented a peer counseling program.

New UNK students take Respect Boundaries class

Kearney Hub reported: In response to the Campus SaVE (Sexual Violence Elimination) Act, UNK had all new students take a class on sexual violence. Topics covered include inappropriate and illegal behaviors, how to protect themselves, how to report sexual assault and bystander intervention.

Nebraska universities raise awareness

Omaha World-Herald reported: While reports of sexual assaults continue to be low on Nebraska campus, officials and experts say that’s because there’s a lot more that aren’t being reported. That’s why this year Nebraska schools are implementing programs and policies aimed at sexual violence awareness and education.
