Tailgate-profileFor Chad Hyatt, love is family, America — and the Huskers.

The retired Army soldier keeps all three very close to his heart. And you can tell by his tailgate.

Tables of food line his tent, with family and friends gathered around the TV’s watching the game. And flying high above them all is the American flag blowing in the wind.

Hyatt has been a Nebraska fan since birth and has taken his love of the Huskers, with him everywhere, even on his deployment.

Hyatt kept an eye on his team from over seas and win or lose, the Black-shirts always gave him hope and happiness.

Hyatt’s game time emotional moment

“Even though we lived in Nevada, we still had Husker gear everywhere,” he said. “My entire family is Husker fans.”

Huskers are known for being some of the nicest fans in college football, and Hyatt has experienced that first hand. Even outside of Nebraska, the Huskers were a great way to meet new people and bring new friends into his life.

Hyatt finally returned to Nebraska in 2008 and is happy to be back.

“It just feels like home.”

He looks around at the family, friends and Army brothers enjoying themselves at his tailgate.

“This is the life,” Hyatt said. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
