Husker tailgaters share traditions and camaraderie
Every home football game, they set up camp in a ring around Memorial Stadium like pioneers settling in for a long spell.
For miles around in any direction, they stake their claims under viaducts, in parking garages and atop parking lots. Many have to shell out a pretty penny for their small tract of land.
These are Husker tailgaters — a hardy lot who are as varied as their vehicles. Some are new to the practice; others have tailgated for generations. Some have spent thousands renovating all types of mobile contraptions; others simply pull the family car into the stall and light the grill.
